(Professor, Department of Biological Sciences; Research Centre for the Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Santo Tomas, The Philippines)

Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, OP currently serves as Professor of Biological Sciences and Professor of Sacred Theology at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the Philippines, and Director of ThomisticEvolution.org. He is also a research fellow at the Research Centre for the Natural and Applied Sciences, speicalises in pure and applied microbiology.

Abstract:

Fr. Austriaco will lay out guidelines and norms regarding use and development of AI systems, from the perspective of the ethical framework developed by Thomas Aquinas, which takes the goal of human life and the standard for moral judgements to arise from the demands for living a life of virtue.
